Vision Statement

The Ladner Minor Baseball Association is committed to excellence through exemplary leadership and integrity. Our vision is to make a lasting impact on the personal development of our players by developing the qualities of citizenship, teamwork and physical well-being and create a culture where kids love to play the game while developing into superior citizens. The joy they find in these experiences will last a lifetime.

Overview

Ladner Minor Baseball Association is a BC Minor Baseball Association located in the lower mainland of British Columbia. We are a highly successful organization with approximately 550 youth members. Players can start at the age of 4 in Rally Cap, and continue through to age 18 in the Midget division with also a Jr Men's division for players 18-24 years of age. All-star programs are run in July through to August from ages 8 up.
Registration takes place around the middle of January each year. Late registration is gladly accepted but we cannot guarantee placement on a team.

Spring Ball Season

In early March, players from Tadpole, Mosquito and Peewee divisions will be called out to the Park to go through skills assessment. Coaches will evaluate the skill level of each player to ensure that an even and fair draft takes place. For Tadpole, Mosquito and Peewee players this is an assessment only, not a “tryout”. For a Bantam AAA program  when offered, players have the opportunity to tryout for the AAA team. Those not selected for AAA will then be assessed for placement on a Bantam single A team. Midget players are assessed by the Midget coaches and placed on balanced teams. Pee Wee and higher divisions interlock with other associations during the spring season, while Mosquito and lower play “in house”.

Summer Ball Season (All-Stars)

Tryouts also take place for summer ball all-star teams in the Tadpole and higher divisions. Summer ball teams from each division compete with teams from other BC Minor associations and attempt to qualify to compete at the following tournaments;

 Tadpole  Summer Ball Final Tournament
 Mosquito A, AAA  Provincials
 Pee Wee A  Provincials
Pee Wee AA  Provincials then Westerns
Pee Wee AAA  Provincials then Westerns or Nationals
 Bantam A  Provincials
Bantam AAA  Provincials then Westerns or Nationals
 Midget AA  Provincials then Westerns

(For information on Summer Ball please go to our All-Star Program section on the main menu)

Fall Ball Season

Fall ball is a more informal season devoted to the increased development of players for the following year. Players eligible to play Peewee fall ball are those that will be playing Peewee in the next spring league (players that played 2nd year Mosquito or 1st year Pee Wee THIS year). Ladner’s Peewee fall ball team historically enters the Coquitlam fall ball tournament on the Labour Day weekend but otherwise all games played are exhibitions. There is no build up to Provincials or League Championships, just fun and learning. Fall ball will only be run if someone is willing to have there name put forward to coach during the fall ball season.

Conclusion

In addition to playing baseball there is also the opportunity for players (or parents) to become umpires and earn some extra money. Starting at age 11, players can attend training sessions to qualify them to ump the games of younger age groups. It’s an excellent way to learn more about the game.
